Winter Concert: A Renaissance Ball
On January 24-25, 2009, The Westford Chorus will join forces with the nationally acclaimed "Ken Pierce Early Dance Ensemble", and 16th century instrumental emsemble, "Urban Myth" to present a delightful romp through the late 16th century featuring madrigals, vocal polyphony, court dances and instrumental pieces. The concerts, set in the structure of a late 16th century Masque Ball will include enchanting choral Madrigals and highly complex Art Music from Burgundy, Spain, Italy and England, interspersed with fully costumed court dances and lively instrumental spotlights. Westford Chorus singers will serve the role of "The Choral Guild" and, if desired, become part of the Royal Court as haughty ladies-in-waiting, snooty male rogues and colorful wenches. A good time will be had by all in this evening of pomp, circumstance and Renaissance traditional music and dance.
